A: As of October 2006, the breakdown is as follows:

Ages: Percent:
1 - 11 21%
12 - 15 9%
16 - 19 9%
20 - 35 20%

Q: What are the ministry priorities at Prince of Peace?

A: In the next few months the staff and Board of Directors, under Pastor David Stark’s leadership, will be assessing each department and ministry initiative at Prince of Peace. Our intent is to interview past and present staff and leaders who can shed insight on our present strengths and weaknesses. Our goal is to prepare a strategic plan for the ministry initiatives and put in place prior to the arrival of a new senior pastor.

Q: Do we include our existing pastors as we consider calling a new senior pastor?

A: Yes. Each of the pastors is asked whether or not they are interested in being considered for senior pastor. If they are interested, the Call Committee will be informed so they can be considered.

Q: Are any of our existing pastors interested in becoming the next senior pastor?

A: At present none of the existing pastors has expressed an interest in the position.

Q: Why aren’t the pastors and staff more visible and accessible on Sunday mornings?

A: The pastors, staff and Board members are taking seriously the need to be more accessible before and after services. Toward that end, significant effort is being made to be in the halls and coffee room where they can interact with members and friends before and after worship.

Q: How are people selected to serve on the Church Board of Directors?

A: The selection and nomination of Board members is addressed very specifically by the Prince of Peace constitution and by-laws. Under the constitution, the Church Board will annually designate a Nominating Team which includes the Senior Pastor, to submit nominations for Board membership. The nominating team seeks disciple members whose spiritual gifts and life skills are complimentary to those of the current board. The candidates are interviewed by the Nominating Team and recommendations are made to the existing Church Board. Upon approval by the Board, nominations are placed before the congregation. During worship services, the congregation will have the opportunity to affirm new Board members.

Q: How are people selected to serve on the Pastoral Call Committee?

A: The process for selection of a Call Committee begins with solicitation of candidates from the congregation. The 12 Call Committee members will be required to be living the Marks of Discipleship. Notification of solicitation is communicated via the Power Surge Tools and Prince of Peace web site. Interested members are requested to obtain a Call Committee packet which is available at the Worship Center Information Desk and the Christian Life Center. Members are asked to complete the Call Committee packet and submit for consideration. All completed Call Committee packets are evaluated and a list of candidates is prepared for a vote by the congregation. During worship services, the congregation will have the opportunity to vote for 12 members to serve on the Call Committee.

Q: When will the Pastoral Call Committee be ready to begin the search for a new Senior Pastor?

A: Call Committee nominations have been collected through December 31, 2006. During the weeks following, nominee information will be reviewed by the Church Board. A list of candidates will be presented to the congregation for a vote by the end of February 2007. The Call Committee should begin the search process in March 2007.

Q: How long will the Call Committee take to make the selection of a new Senior Pastor?

A: The Call Committee which selected Pastor Mike Foss took 12 months from the initial formation of the committee until the selection was made. The call process involves screening and interviews of hundreds of candidates from all over the United States. Progress will be reported to the congregation on a regular basis. It is very important not to rush the selection but to let the Holy Spirit guide the Call Committee in this most important task. Your prayers and patience are valued during this process.

Q: Can members and friends of Prince of Peace make recommendations for a new Senior Pastor?

A: Any suggestions for Senior Pastor candidates should be made to the Church Board either through email at boardofdirectors@princeofpeaceonline.org or through the regular mail. All suggestions and recommendations will be passed along to the Call Committee for consideration.

Q: How does the Call Committee know who is available?

A: The Call Committee has many resources to draw from including members of the congregation, Church leaders locally and nationally, key seminary leaders, synod personnel and other pastors and friends of the congregation. As names are assembled each is checked for availability. Because Prince of Peace is well known and has an excellent reputation throughout the country, the number of potential senior pastors who are interested is large.

Q: Will an interim pastor be called to assist the pastoral staff while the Call Committee is performing a search for a new Senior Pastor?

A: The Church Board met with the current Pastors David Stark, Paul Gauche and Michelle Gawienowski regarding their needs during this call period. They recommended that together with Brian Goke, they would continue to share preaching responsibilities and other pastoral ministry duties without the need of additional pastoral support. The Church Board has accepted the recommendation from the pastoral staff not to call an interim pastor.
