Student Leadership Team

“You’re not doing youth ministry until your youth are doing ministry.” At Prince of Peace, we believe that the Holy Spirit has given us each gifts for ministry. As a part of our growing Sr. High Ministry, we provide opportunities for students to discover, be trained and use their God-given gifts in this ministry.

Peer Ministry Team

(Open to 9th – 10th graders during the 2011-2012 ministry year.)
The Peer Ministry Team will meet regularly throughout the school year to learn about and practice leadership skills for ministry. Some of the topics include: Welcoming a Stranger, Listening to Understand, Navigating Conflict, Identifying your Gifts for Ministry, When to Get Help, and Christ-based Leadership.

Each session will end with an “Outside the Walls” challenge to practice these skills in your relationships. You will also be asked to arrive at 6:30 each Wednesday night for Sr. High Ministry to help create a welcoming atmosphere and to practice your Peer Ministry Skills.

Each of these training times will also include helping to plan and promote M>O>T>I>O>N>, the Sr. High Ministry Kick-off night and other events throughout the year.

Worship Team

(Open to all 9th -12th graders during the 2011-2012 ministry year.)
The worship team exists to provide students an opportunity to be a part of worship through music. We will have several initial rehearsals at the beginning of the year to get used to working together as a team, but will primarily be rehearsing on Wednesday afternoons in preparation for the coming night’s worship experience. This year we will be partnering with the Nexus band members, to build bridges for students to get comfortable worshipping with them, and to help us build up our musical skills base.

Students will be expected to spend time rehearsing before coming to rehearsal for the songs that will be performed for that evening. The song list will be available before regular programming begins, and the set schedule will be available prior to each week’s program.
If you’re a singer, instrumentalist or are interested in learning about the sound/light boards and running Media Shout, please contact Josh.

Discipleship Group (DGroup)

(Must have completed Peer Ministry or be a Junior or Senior.)
The student ministry team will meet regularly throughout the school year to plan, organize and implement activities, announcements, and creative ways to engage the students in our programs. They will be responsible for assisting in leading large group activities, creating announcements, videos, and other promotional materials for upcoming activities.

In order to be an effective Student Ministry Leader and an example to other students, these student ministers need to be growing in their own faith journeys. Therefore, an in-depth Bible study will be a part of these meetings. This meetings happens every other Sunday night, and participants are expected to study outside of the class, memorize scripture, and read chapters of books that we will be studying together.
