Sharing and Caring Hands is a compassionate response to the needs of the poor. They are set up to be a
safety net organization to help with whatever needs are not being met. This includes but is not limited
to providing meals, clothing, showers, shelter, transportation help, rent deposits, rent help, medical
assistance, dental care, furniture, school expenses, funeral assistance, and other miscellaneous needs.
Sharing and Caring Hands provides these with dignity, while affirming God's love for all his people
regardless of their circumstances. We reaffirm the self-worth of each individual and want to assist in
that person reaching his or her greatest potential.
Every other month, Prince of Peace prepares, then serves meals in downtown Minneapolis at the
Sharing and Caring facility. Please join us in this ministry by signing up to volunteer that day or donating
food for the event.

Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry. Habitat’s belief is that all people should have
a safe, decent place in which to live. They invite people of all faiths to join our mission to build and
renovate simple, decent, affordable houses.
Their mission is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about offering hope and
transforming lives. It is about serving God by serving others.
Since the late 1980s, Prince of Peace has supported local efforts by providing 100’s of volunteers to help
build these homes. These projects have often been in cities south of the river. Our normal time for
serving at a Habitat build is usually during the summer time.

Since the winter of 2008, Prince of Peace has partnered with Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org), a local hunger relief organization, by hosting a meal packing extravaganza. Each winter we have gathered between 5,000 and 7,000 volunteers together over the course of a week to pack meals. We convert our sanctuary into a meal packing warehouse. 500 Volunteers per 2 hour shift will put a mix of chicken, soy, rice and vegetables into a small bag, that is boxed and sent all over the world to kids and families in impoverished situations. The volunteers have an opportunity to learn about hunger in the world, build relationships with each other, and listen to great music!
If you have any questions, please email us at fmsc@princeofpeaceonline.org.

Through Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child (OCC) sends a message of hope to children
in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes and Christian literature. This
program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions
project that reaches out to suffering children while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus
Christ, God's greatest gift. Samaritan’s Purse collects several million boxes each year and distributes
them to children in over 100 countries.
Shoeboxes are distributed around November 1 and returned the weekend before Thanksgiving.
