Where Brokenness Meets Reconciliation
Sunday, February 27, 2005
Pastor Mike Foss | Text: John 4:5-42

Read the teaching this study is based on.

Discuss

In John 4:5-42, a woman at Jacob’s well meets Jesus face to face. She asked Jesus some questions like, “How can you ask me for a drink?” “Where can you get this living water?” and “Are you greater than our father Jacob?” Why do people ask questions? What are some things you have learned by asking questions? Could you ask Jesus questions? How?

Asking questions can often lead to the truth. Have you ever been in a disagreement with a friend or sibling and not really known why? The next time this happens, rather than assuming the other person is at fault, try asking them questions to find the truth.

Let’s practice asking questions!

Challenge

Play the game “20 Questions.” In this game have one person think of someone from the Bible, and the others guess who it is by asking up to twenty questions that can only be answered with yes or no. See how important questions are in our conversations?!

Pray

Dear Jesus, thank you for encouraging us to ask you questions. Help us to trust you for the best answers and give us patience to wait for them. In your holy name we pray. Amen.
